Immediately after the earthquake, Building Research Institute dispatched a lot of staff to Rapid Safety Judgement of damaged buildings to prevent them from collapsing due to aftershocks, and also collaborated damage surveys and related studies at stages of reconstruction of damaged areas, as a duty of national research institute. BRI published some survey reports on 1995 Hyougoken-Nanbu Earthquake. BRI also has been carrying out repair and retrofit studies of damaged buildings.
